Zotero Software for Beginners

September 29, 2021
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
America/New_York
Online

ABOUT: Creating citations and keeping track of readings can be challenging. Zotero is a free, open-source bibliographic program that allows you to collect, organize, cite, and share your research. Generate correctly-formatted footnotes and full Works Cited lists with one click. This one-hour workshop taught by librarian Carolyn Bratnober will introduce participants to Zotero, help get started using it, and provide strategies for effectively utilizing it in your research and writing. This workshop is best suited to beginners and those who don't feel very "tech savvy" -- it will be just the basics.

PARTICIPANTS SHOULD HAVE: a computer running Mac OS or Windows, with a web browser (Firefox, Chrome, or Safari).

BEFORE THE WORKSHOP: Please download/install both of the following free programs from www.zotero.org: 1) Zotero software 2) the Zotero Connector browser plugin. (Installation may require Restarting your computer -- do this before the workshop).

SYSTEM NOTE: Zotero works on computers with a solid state hard drive and Windows or Mac operating system. The Zotero software does not work on iPads, phones, and most light tablets and notebooks. (There is a mobile Zotero platform that can be used in any browser, but it does not have all the functions of the software; this workshop will focus on the software.) Check your operating system and hardware before the workshop and make whatever choice is right for you. More info at www.zotero.org
