Dr. Nicole Schupf conducts studies of aging and Alzheimer's disease in adults with Down syndrome and shared genetic susceptibility to Down syndrome and Alzheimer's disease in mothers of adults with Down syndrome. This includes the relation of genetic and host factors to age at onset and risk for Alzheimer's disease. Dr. Schupf's recent work focuses specifically on the relationship between estrogen deficiency, indicated by age at onset of menopause, apolipoprotein E gentoype and age at onset of Alzheimer's disease in women with Down syndrome.
